In a Bangladesh container depot fire, 16 people were killed and over 450 others were injured.

Dhaka (Agencies): On Saturday night, a fire broke out at the BM Container Depot in the Kadamrasul region of Chittagong’s Sitakunda Upazila.

According to information, at least 16 people died in the fire and subsequent explosions at the depot, while hundreds of others, including police and fire service employees, suffered burn injuries.

Istakul Islam, chief of the Health & Service Department at Red Crescent Youth Chittagong, as saying, “Over 450 persons have been hurt in this incident, of which at least 350 are at CMCH.”

“At other hospitals, the death toll could be higher,” Islam warned.

Three firefighters were also killed in the incident, according to fire department sources.

The identities of the deceased have yet to be determined.
