Bikram Majithia’s life in danger in jail: Wife MLA Ganeev Kaur wrote a letter to Punjab Governor and DGP, demanding the removal of ADGP

Chandigarh: Demanding the removal of Harpreet Sidhu, ADGP, Prison, Ganeev Kaur, MLA from Majithia and wife of the senior SAD leader, Bikramjit Singh Majithia, has written a seven-page-letter to the Governor and the DGP, Punjab, claiming that the life of her husband in Patiala jail is in danger.

Akali leader Bikram Majithia has been in jail for some time in the drug case. Bikram Majithia’s wife Ganeev Kaur Majithia has accused ADGP Jail Harpreet Sidhu of harming her husband. They can also implicate Bikram Majithia in some other false case. While questioning the ability of Harpreet Sidhu she said that when Sidhu was the head of the STF, he also failed to stop the trading of drugs. While being an SIT member, he had recorded a false statement from Akali leader Amarpal Singh Boney.

Ganeev Kaur claimed that there is an old rivalry in the family of Harpreet Singh Sidhu and Bikram Majithia. The Sidhu family believes that one of their aunts was killed by the Majithia family. Bikram Majithia’s grandfather was also fired upon by the security guard of Harpreet Singh Sidhu’s father. Due to this rivalry, Harpreet Sidhu has tried to implicate him by using his position.

Ganeev Kaur has further alleged that even the AAP’s government is jealous of Bikram Majithia as he had filed a defamation case against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal during the 2017 elections. Then CM Arvind Kejriwal got the case finished by apologizing to Majithia. The case against MP Sanjay Singh is still going on. Ganeev Kaur has alleged in her letter that Harpreet Singh Sidhu has been given additional charge of ADGP Prison so as to implicate Majithia in some other case.

Akal Takht chief gets Sikh Commando in Z security cover.

Dinesh K Sharma

Amritsar: Akal Takht officiating Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh, who had refused government security, has now given his consent to have the Centre-sponsored security cover, but with a condition.

The Jathedar has agreed to have only ‘Sikh’ security personnel with him because it will be easy for them to understand the religious code of conduct. Six ‘Sikh’ security guards from the CRPF have been deployed in his security. The SGPC task force and Punjab police commando attached with the Jathedar, will continue to escort him.

Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh had refused security from the Punjab and Union Government after which the Sikh youth offered to provide security to the Jathedar themselves. Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, president of the showmanship committee, provided 12 employees of the committee for the security of the Jathedar and President Dhami had said that the arbitrariness of the committee would protect the Jathedar.

The Centre had decided to give the ‘Z’ grade security cover to the Jathedar consisting of over 20 paramilitary jawans. He had declined to accept it, saying that it would hinder his duty as a Jathedar of the Akal Takht as the security would prevent him from mingling with devotees. Despite his refusal, the Centre has deputed six CRPF security guards with him. It is learnt that once the full brigade will join the Jathedar’s security cover, some will be deputed at his residence and office at Talwandi Sabo, some outside the Akal Takht Secretariat in Amritsar and rest will escort him during his programmes outside in a separate vehicle.

Akal Takht Secretariat staff said the security guards had been directed neither to enter any gurdwara nor the Jathedar’s office.

According to information supplied with security services, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, General Counsel Sikh for Justice (SFJ), uploaded a video on social media portals saying, “Don’t kill the emerging artist if only bullets are to be fired.” General Kuldeep Brar, the Indian Army official in charge of Operation Blue Star, and Brigadier Israr Khan, the Sikh community’s opponents, are responsible for the attack on the Golden temple in Amritsar in 1984.”

“A reward of $100,000 US dollars will be granted by the SFJ for reporting these two officers’ abroad trips,” it continues. The SFJ has called on Punjab gangsters Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, Lawrence Bishnoi, and Dilpreet Baba to take part in the plebiscite in Khalistan, and has promised them safety and a reward if they do. On June 6, 2022, voting for the campaign for Punjab independence, Khalistan referendum, would be proclaimed in Sri Akal Takht Sahib.”

State police are urged to take all necessary precautions and keep a close eye on the situation.

Sikh youth to be trained to use modern weapons, now is the time to preach from village to village: Jathedar Sri Akal Takht

Dinesh K Sharma

Amritsar: Amidst the deteriorating law and order situation in the state following the AAP coming to the power, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib has exhorted the Sikh youth to be prepared to serve panth and equipped with the latest weapons.

During the commemoration of Ghallughara Day at Sri Akal Takht Sahib, kirtan ceremonies were held after the bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib. Later, Jathedar Sri Akal Takhat Sahib delivered his message to the nation. Giani Harpreet Singh, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, said that it was high time that Sikh youth be trained to use modern weapons to serve the panth. He said he will ask the two Sikh institutes to prepare a shooting range to legally train the youth to use modern weapons. The Jathedar said that Gatka Training Centers should also be set up as much as possible to prepare Sikh youth. “ At the time of partition of India and Pakistan, Jawaharlal Nehru had devised a strategy to weaken the Sikhs politically, under which efforts were always made to weaken the Sikhs religiously, economically, and socially,” he said adding that Sikhs always recite Ardas in which they pray for the rule of Khalsa. However, the rule of the Khalsa will come when the Khalsa is ready for sacrifice. The Jathedar said that we need to be strong religiously, economically, and socially so now we have to get out of such rooms and go from village to village preaching the panthic agenda.

On this occasion, Simranjit Singh Mann separately demanded Khalistan where he said that the Sikh community should accept Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara as Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. He said that Bhai Harnam Singh Khalsa, head of Damdami Taksal should be removed and Bhai Daya Singh Lahoria should be appointed in his place. Bhai Davinderpal Singh Bhullar should be made the president of the Shiromani Committee. The election of the “Shiromani Committee was being operated by the Central Government due to which Panthic unity is not taking place,” he claimed. Many personalities including Jathedar Singh Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, President of Shiromani Committee Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar Simranjit Singh Mann, Bhai Dhian Singh Mand, Baba Avtar Singh, Giani Harnam Singh Khalsa were present on the occasion. Ethanol Petrol Blending: PM Modi announced achieving the target ahead of its schedule.

New Delhi: On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi gave a great message to the nation at a program on ‘Save Soil’ held at Vigyan Bhawan in the capital today. In fact, amid rising petrol and diesel prices, the country’s oil companies have achieved their target of 10 percent ethanol petrol blending. During the program, Prime Minister Modi said that the country had achieved this goal five months ago. Let me tell you that due to ethanol petrol blending, the country’s farmers, as well as carbon emissions, are coming down drastically.

In May, Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri had said that the level of ethanol bleaching in petrol in India had reached 9.99 percent. Importantly, India had set a target of 10 percent ethanol blend in petrol by 2022 and 20 percent blend by 2030. In addition, the central government has set a target of mixing 5% of bio-diesel with diesel by 2030. Accordingly, the oil companies have already achieved the target of 10 percent about five months ago. Ethanol petrol bleaching has also saved the country’s foreign exchange.

The ethanol blending program in petrol aims to reduce the country’s dependence on crude oil imports, reduce carbon emissions and increase farmers’ incomes. The Center has announced an additional charge of Rs 2 per liter on blended fuels from October to promote blending. In May, Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri had said that the target of 9.99 percent ethanol blending in petrol has been achieved by the country’s oil marketing companies. “India is ready to achieve 20% blending of ethanol petrol bleed by 2025-2026,” claimed Puri.

Sangrur Lok Sabha by-poll ground heats up: AAP and Akali Dal field candidates; BJP announced  the name of Dhillon, Congress undecided over candidate.

Dinesh K Sharma

Sangrur: The by-election for Sangrur Lok Sabha’s seat has heated up. Aam Aadmi Party has announced the name of Gurmel Singh while Akali Dal has fielded Kamaljit Kaur, sister of jailed Balwant Rajoana. The BJP also announced the name of Kewal Singh Dhillon, who joined the party in the presence of Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday, as its candidate from Sangrur whereas the Congress has not yet decided its candidate.

Aam Aadmi Party has given ticket to its district President Gurmel Singh from Sangrur seat. He has also filed his nomination yesterday along with CM Bhagwant Mann. Gurmel Singh is also the Sarpanch from the village Gharach of Sangrur.

The Akali Dal has nominated Kamaljit Kaur, sister of jailed Balwant Singh Rajoana. The Akali Dal is playing the Panthak card here. Kamaljit Kaur has been given a ticket by linking it with the captive Sikhs. Rajoana is serving imprisonment in jail for the murder of former CM Beant Singh. She will file the nomination tomorrow.

SAD (Amritsar) chief Simranjit Singh Mann is also in the fray. In the last several elections, his party has been ignored. However, in the recently concluded assembly elections, he got good votes in Amargarh seat. After which he has contested from Sangrur seat.

Confusion continues in Congress regarding the Lok Sabha candidate. Congress wanted to bring Balkaur Singh, father of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, who was murdered in Mansa. But he refused to contest the election. Former minister Vijay Inder Singla also does not want to contest elections. Congress can now bet on Dalveer Goldie or his wife Simrat Kaur, who lost the election from Dhuri assembly seat to Bhagwant Mann.

The by-election for the Sangrur Lok Sabha seat is scheduled for June 23 for which the filing for the nomination papers has started on May 30 and will continue till June 6. The scrutiny of nominations will be done on June 7 and the last date for taking back nominations is June 9. The counting of votes is scheduled for June 26, 2022.

SAD announces Biba Kamaldeep Kaur Rajoana as joint panthic candidate for Sangrur bypoll

Chandigarh: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today announced Biba Kamaldeep Kaur Rajoana as the joint candidate of the SAD, Bahujan Samaj Party and all panthic organizations for the Sangrur parliamentary bypoll.

A decision to this effect was taken after SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal held thorough consultation on this issue with the BSP leadership as well as panthic organizations including the Sant Samaj and the Bandi Sikh Rihai Committee. The SAD President appealed to the ‘panth’ to wholeheartedly support Biba Kamaldeep Rajoana’s candidature.

Disclosing this, party Spokesman Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said Biba Rajoana would contest the bypoll on the SAD symbol. She will file her nomination on June 6. Dr Cheema said there was a long-standing demand from panthic organizations that the joint panthic candidate for the Sangrur bypoll should be from the families of ‘Bandi Singhs’. “The panth feels that this will focus attention on the plight of Sikh detainees who have been languishing in jails even after completion of their sentences. Sri Akal Takth Sahib Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh had also relayed a message to the community in this regard. The SAD has taken all these factors into consideration while deciding to field Biba Rajoana as the joint panthic candidate on the party symbol”.

Dr Cheema said Biba Rajoana, is the sister of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana who was incarcerated in jail for 26 years, was also a victim of police atrocity. “Her brother was killed in a false encounter and her sister died in police custody. Even her family’s house was demolished”.

In the presence of Amit Shah, prominent Punjab Congress leaders join BJP.

Chandigarh: In a major setback to the Congress party, former ministers, Raj Kumar Verka, Balbir Singh Sidhu, Sunder Sham Arora, and Gurpreet Singh Kangar, joined the BJP on Saturday.

Senior Congress leader Kewal Dhillon from Barnala, and Sarup Chand Singla and Mohinder Kaur Josh, both former SAD MLAs, have also joined the BJP.

In the presence of Union ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Som Parkash, state unit chairman Ashwani Sharma, and senior BJP leaders Dushyant Gautam, Tarun Chugh, Sunil Jakhar, and Manjinder Singh Sirsa, they joined the party.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah was in Chandigarh today for a meeting with party leaders and the launch of the Khelo India Youth Games in Panchkula, Haryana. Following the Khelo India Youth Games, Shah visited party leader Sunil Jakhar’s home in Panchkula, where he was joined by Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. At Jakhar’s apartment, four Congress leaders who had defected to the BJP were also there.

In the previous Congress government, Balbir Sidhu, a three-time MLA from Mohali, was the health minister, while Gurpreet Kangar, a three-time MLA from Rampura Phul, was the revenue minister. Verka, a famous Dalit leader from the Majha region, is a three-time legislator who served in the previous government as the minister for social justice, empowerment, and minorities. Former Hoshiarpur MLA Sunder Sham Arora served as the previous Congress government’s industry and commerce minister. Balbir Sidhu’s brother, Mohali Corporation Mayor Amarjit Singh Sidhu, has also joined the BJP.

After the Congress replaced Amarinder Singh with Charanjit Singh Channi as chief minister last year, Balbir Sidhu, Sunder Sham Arora, and Gurpreet Kangar were ousted from their ministries. The BJP’s admission of four top Punjab Congress figures is considered as a significant victory for the saffron party, which is growing its foothold in the state. Verka has a Dalit appearance, whereas Kangar and Sidhu are Jat leaders, and Arora has a Hindu appearance. It was expected that once Sunil Jakhar left the Congress and joined the saffron party, additional leaders would follow suit.

While reacting to the development, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Raja Amrinder Warring said that all those who defected to the BJP had “betrayed” the Congress “as an ungrateful son leaves his mother.” They were scared and needed a safe, secure political haven, and the BJP gave it, he added.
